Balloon boy explains why he remained hidden

This is what Falcon said: “You had said that, um, we did this for the show.”

SAY WHAT. Now I’m even more confused.

I’m pretty sure the dad just finished crying about this on Anderson Cooper (”how DARE you! how DARE you suggest it was staged!”) but ohhhhh man, where to begin…
    1) LOL at the dad quietly freaking out and fumbling at this son’s comment. So not smooth.
    2) Why did Wolf just drop it? He should’ve pushed the tough questions! C’mon dude, you’re a journalist.
    3) I wonder what his parents bribed him with. I know that if I were 6 years old, I wouldn’t hide in a box for hours on end unless it were for some awesome reward.

I’m convinced his parents told him to hide, and that we’re not just misinterpreting what the kid is saying. I mean, you’d have to be a real asshole to stop hiding when your parents are screaming and crying for you to come out.

yeah, the father’s words after (the) Falcon answered had hints of BS in it. if everything is legit, then the Falcon probably gets pretty harsh beatings to want to hide for so long so that he wouldn’t get hit.

i remember i did this once when i was little. i hid in a box at botsombot. when i was found, som-sum beat the shiz outta me while baba kinda laughed.
