The U.S.S. New York to be welcomed into Navy fleet soon

The U.S.S. New York is expected to arrive in New York this weekend or early next week in an official launching ceremony put on by the US Navy. The new warship, which bears the name New York in remembrance of the former World Trade Center towers, is actually built from recycled steel from the WTC wreckage. On the deck of the ship are two towers that not only make you think of the WTC towers, but they also serve a purpose in cloaking the ship from radar.

But the New York is also a warship. It is roughly the length of two football fields, and gleaming, with fresh paint and sophisticated technology. Dubbed an “amphibious transport dock,” it is the fifth in a new line of San Antonio-class vessels, distinguished by two hexagonal structures that make it harder to spot the ship on radar and that some have likened to the twin towers.

I love how this ship looks sleek and powerful with all of its angled lines. Definitely something I’d refer to as the Reventon of the seas (or at least of the US Navy).
