Here are some photos from the Superdry New York store launch party which was held last night. The store was closed to the public from 6PM onward and open only to invited guests and press to see the full set of apparel, bags, accessories, and jeans. I was told that folks from the UK (Superdry’s headquarters) were at the event to see the opening of the company’s first dedicated Superdry outlet. The store itself is huge (one of the largest single clothing retailers along Broadway) and the inside is outfitted with unique clothing shelves that were branded and made to look like they were picked up at the junkyard.
While people were mingling and having food and drinks, I looked around at their line and was impressed with their line of jackets, some of which I don’t recall seeing at their online store at Cult. In any case, I really wanted to try them on but I felt a bit weird doing so at the opening party, so I’ll probably head back in at a later time and let you know how they feel.

The attention to detail even came down to the tags on the clothes as some items included a nice and beat-up aluminum piece to take home after purchase. Overall, the store is worth a visit and inside you’ll find a wealth of great clothing and accessories options for this coming winter. If you aren’t in NYC, here are some photos you can check out.
Just an idea but when you post pictures such as these (good) you should add a small section containing what lens you used and the settings. Something like you would find in Flickr. Maybe it is just me but when I see pictures that grab me I always like to know how they were shot. Just an idea.
I’ll look into what I can do to include that info. For now, these were all shot with a Sigma 17-70mm.
Do they only sell clothes for guys?
No, they have women’s clothes too.
Is the store still hiring?
Is SuperDry a popular brand in America? I mean, you seem pretty clued up from your blog, but SuperDry is a bit of a naff brand over here, mostly worn by people who don’t understand how to shop for themselves.
It originated in Japan and spread across to London. I believe that this is one of the first stores to open in America. They may have another in LA.
Lets go into the mind of this comment posted =)
Geofferino: “Hi, I have no sense in personal taste so I shop at major brands like Express for men, Abercrombie, Hollister. You may note that I have no individuality and copying the styles of other americans is how to really ‘fit-in.’ So please stay away from these unique stores and let people with fashion sense shop there.”
See what I did there? Fail less at trolling and giving terrible comments. Being an international traveler like myself… I can say if you want to stand out from your friends but like the whole urban-chic-grunge look with a taste of california check this place out. Other stores I would rate on the same scale and NOT FOUND in AMRERICA:
-Pull & Bear
-Burshka (may have spelled this wrong)
Now writing to you in IRELAND and seeing the store here I can say for I fact I am excited to return home and shop there.
Went into the store and an associate informed me that they only have half the merchandise they are supposed to have. I’m anxious to visit it again since I’ve been eyeing their blazers from the website. I feel like there will be a lot of tourist from Europe who will be shopping there. It will take a bit for Superdry to catch on to America.
I love the pictures!!
I found another great article about the new Superdry Flagship Store in NYC.
