Urban Umbrellas to be the new scaffold in New York City

The New York City Department of Buildings unveiled a brand-new design for scaffolds in New York City that will hopefully keep city streets decent looking during construction projects and also keep pedestrians safer. The new scaffold design is being called the Urban Umbrella for its umbrella-like shape and arches.

The design was one of many submitted in a competition to redesign the sidewalk sheds, and in the end Young-Hwan Choi, a 28-year-old student from the University of Pennsylvania won the contest with his Urban Umbrella design.
