Review: ABCing: Seeing The Alphabet Differently by Colleen Ellis

Mark Batty Publisher sent over this wonderful thick-paged book called ABCing on how to see the alphabet differently a couple of weeks ago. The book is a joy to flip through as each page transforms the shapes of each letter into abstract forms. What was once an A or the outline of an A is now representative of the word “abstract”. The remained of the alphabet is done in a similar fashion, taking each letter and cutting it into different parts to illustrate a word that relates to design and the conception of ideas.

The book is refreshing because it forces us to see the familiar in a different light (something I think is always a good thing if you’re stuck on an idea).

ABCing by Colleen Ellis is now available for pre-order at Amazon.com for just over $15. This would make a great coffee table gift or an inspirational piece for anybody in the design industry. Check out the images below for some choice pages.
