Everybody who’s at all concerned with helping people through the Red Cross should read the Red Cross’ response on why donating MONEY is always a better option that donating material goods.

In brief, the Red Cross ends up spending unnecessary funds to find places to store and house the goods some of us send in, and in some cases, the goods prevent vital medicines from making it to their destinations.

If you’re thinking of donating something to the Red Cross, make it a cash donation instead because they’ll know best how to distribute and purchase what is needed to help those in affected areas.
