Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus is hands-down the best worst movie I’ve ever seen. It’s so bad that it has become a movie that I highly recommend to others even while telling them that it’s absolutely terrible. It’s that good and that bad (very few movies fit this criteria).
Anyway, if you’ve seen the movie, I have no doubt that you remember a particular scene where the mega shark literally jumps out of the ocean and EATS A PLANE IN THE AIR. It is one of the biggest WTF moments in all of movie-making and the act leaves many viewers perplexed as to how a shark — even of mega size — managed to jump so high and eat a plane.
To sort it all out, Stephen Taubman created this infographic with precise measurements as to how fast the shark must go and high it must jump. To put it simply, the mega shark travels faster than a bullet train and almost as fast as a Tomahawk missile.
Haven’t seen the movie but want to know what I’m talking about? Check out the mega shark jump scene below.
