The short answer, if you can’t watch the videos posted here (from CBS’ 60 Minutes), is that there are just too many government agencies and big egos bickering over details of this project. Each side thinks their ideas are the best and none are willing to budge on their positions.
It’s been nearly 9 years since September 11, 2001 and there’s very little progress going on at Ground Zero. Every time I bike past the area I think about how long it took just to get any construction started and how much longer I think the entire project will take to complete. We’d be lucky if we have anything meaningful to show off by the 10 year anniversary of the attacks.
should have just made it a park.
i’m tempted to stand out by city hall on the 10-year anniversary and just an obnoxious bible-thumper to all the passing people. “hey! happy 10-year anniversary! it’s been 10 years and NOTHING’S BEEN DONE at the world trade!” “happy anniversary! of what you may ask? it’s been 10 years of bullshit since we’ve had a hole in the ground! hey! stop throwing stuff at me!”
This is so stupid! I think they need to pick their asses off of the ground and get a move on. I don’t think they should make a park of any aort though. It would be cool, in my opinion, if they rebuilt the WTC. But that will probably never happen. As a kid, and now, i had always wanted to go to the twin towers, and the eiffel tower. But now, one dream, and probably my biggest dream, has been crushed. They were so beautiful. Thanks a lot Bin Laden.
