This is just fantastic! The British Library has scanned and uploaded the original manuscript for Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures Under Ground”. As you may have guessed from the title, this book is the original hand-written version of the famous book and movies we know as Alice In Wonderland (or Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland).
The illustrations — all 37 of them — were done by Lewis Carroll himself and bound in a nice leather book and then given to a young girl named Alice.
The story goes however that many years later, Alice had to sell the book at auction to American collectors and it was only returned to British soil after American benefactors gave it to the British Library in appreciation for the British people’s efforts in World War II.
