Unabomber Cabin by Richard Barnes

Unabomber Cabin, Sacramento, CA by Richard Barnes

I didn’t know this until reading YMFY, but apparently the FBI confiscated Theodore Kaczynski’s entire cabin from the woods after his capture on April 3, 1996. There was so much evidence in there that the FBI literally just picked up the whole thing and moved it into a storage facility in Sacramento, California.

From what I understand, a replica of this cabin the actual cabin is on display at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. (at the G-Men and Journalists exhibit).

Anyway, photographer Richard Barnes took these two photos to show the space the cabin now inhabits and the space it has left behind to be taken over by nature. Chilling in a weird way, don’t you think?

The Newseum actually displays the original cabin, on loan from the FBI.
