The United States Government unveiled a newly designed $100 note today that builds upon years of research in anti-counterfeiting measures. The new bill features two distinct new features that will make it stand out among other US notes.
The blue 3-D Security Ribbon on the front of the new $100 note contains images of bells and 100s that move and change from one to the other as you tilt the note. The Bell in the Inkwell on the front of the note is another new security feature. The bell changes color from copper to green when the note is tilted, an effect that makes it seem to appear and disappear within the copper inkwell.
Here’s what the backside of the new $100 will look like.
In an effort to teach people how to tell if the new note is real, the government has released this trailer for the new $100. Check it out below. And if you want to get a closer look at the new note, the government has also set up a dedicated new $100 site where you can learn about the new bill and explore an interactive $100 note.
Here’s a video of the new $100 bills being printed.

maybe its just me, but the front has no design coherence to it. it looks like a mess. the giant 100 on the back really isnt working either.
it might not have design coherence, it might just make it more difficult to counterfeit
I don’t like it either, ron. Looks like funny money. Or a European currency. All this attempt to stop counterfeiting could be solved by switching back to using gold and silver as currency.
The US should really look to Romania, which has some of the most counterfeit-proof bills in the world. Just sayin’
Hal, switching back to gold is a no-go for American banks. Come on! The economic world would simply crumble
