Incredible. This is my current most loathed song.
Why? So what if he has a great voice if the songs he releases are complete tripe.
Tripe? This song is obviously written, not from any heart and soul, but to directly appeal to women… especially those trapped in loveless and unfulfilling relationships, who probably work in unpassionate and unfulfilling office jobs (hence it’s predominance on every ‘soft-rock’ radio station).
Now for some lyrics: “You’ll make me work so we can work to work it out.”
>> Hey, tell me what to do! No matter how irrational you are, I’ll listen to everything you say and nod along and let you change me.
“Baby your love is going to change me”
Enough said. Mold me. Make me what you want. This isn’t a relationship, this is you turning me into what you want.
“I’ll give so much more than I’ll get…”
>> I’m totally here just for you no matter what. Screw my own interests and life, whatever YOU need, I’m there for YOU. I am not my own person, I am ONLY here for you. No matter how little you give back, I will beat it.
“I just haven’t met you yet”
This one is really for the OL’s dreaming of something more fulfilling than their current relationship… “maybe… just maybe… there is this perfect guy out there that I can completely mold, who has no life of his own and will always do and say everything I want……. I just haven’t met him yet…”
The irony of course is that I’m a “girlfriend guy” (see the movie “I love you man”). When I fall in love, the girl is my world and I would do anything for her… as long as I remain true to myself.
Also, his singing face is really creepy.
I listened to this song three times in a row yesterday!
