The New York Times has an article about the soon-to-be-gone Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car fleet in New York City. Due to stricter regulations on fuel economy and overall concern for the environment, the big, spacious vehicles that have ruled NYC’s roads will soon be replaced with leaner and more economical solutions. Ford has already announced a police interceptor replacement for the Crown Victoria, but the Taxi & Limousine Commission has not yet decided on a replacement — at least not one that satisfies the need for a safe and spacious ride (the hybrid models on the road now that serve as taxis are known to be cramped and uncomfortable).
