As you know, I got an iPhone 4 recently and since Apple doesn’t officially sell any iPhone 4 cases (at least not while they are doing their iPhone 4 case giveaway), it was a bit harder than usual to find a case for the device. After some research and some physical hands-on testing (thanks Tekserve!), I was able to narrow them all down to the case I think best protects the iPhone 4 for the price.

For less than $15, you can pick up an Incipio DermaSHOT iPhone 4 case that is slim and shock-absorbent. It completely covers the back of the phone and also has a raised edge on the front side to protect the glass should you drop your phone face-down. The case is made with grippy silicone (like those OEM BlackBerry skins) and fits the phone perfectly (there’s no wobbly room at all). All buttons are still accessible and you don’t have to take the case off to charge your phone with the iPhone cable.

If you don’t include the free ones from Apple (which, to be honest, aren’t nearly as good), then the Incipio DermaSHOT iPhone 4 case is your best bet. With the case on, the iPhone 4 is still slimmer than most smartphones out there.
