Japanese synchronized walking

The Japanese have made even the simplest task of walking into a glorified sport. Take a look at this video above of a group of Japanese men doing some sort of synchronized walking exercise. It gets really serious around 2 minutes. [via]

That actually reminded me very much of military drill. The way they walk, dress their ranks (that is, make sure they are in straight lines) and the precision in which they do it is very military. Of course, all with a wacky Japanese flair.

Good example of military drill is the Marine Corps Silent Drill Team. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv_Q9MtfRHk&feature=related

ok… decent. but i want them to try it outside, in 100 degree weather, 90% humidity wearing band uniforms, sweat dripping into their eyes, playing 15~ minutes of memorized music holding instruments weighing 1 – 40lbs.

this is called lazy mans marching band. minus the band.
