   its a bartender trick involving layering liquors in the mixer without shaking it up. ever seen a shooter where there’s a layer of grenadine on the bottom? its poured through a straw so it settles on the bottom. similar concept.

   Hi Herman !

   It’s pretty simple actually: all liquids don’t have same density, so they won’t mix together. If you put syrup, water and then oil in a glass you will see three different layers in it.
   The reason why there’s a color gradation is because it still mix a little bit between each color, but not enough to make a unicolor cocktail. If this shaker had been poured in a big glass, it’d probably look like this :
