Man, I almost want to move to London because of this! Transport for London is investing 111 million Pounds this year to make what they call Cycle Superhighways. Essentially it’s a large dedicated bike path that goes from outer London into central London in hopes that it will encourage people to drop cars and public transport in exchange for bikes. Wow, NYC needs this ASAP.
It helps that the mayor – the posh blond guy in the video – is a cyclist. I’ve seen him out on his bike heading to his office even after he’s become mayor. He recently saved a woman from muggers when he was passing on his bike:
