Sudanese family portraits in Australia

When I lived in Melbourne, Australia, one thing that stuck out at me was the class differences and racial tension between Sudanese communities and their surrounding Australian natives. The Sudanese people are almost segregated into districts and at some places on a map, you can literally draw lines on particular streets where the skin color will change from white to black. Photographer Lee Grant echoes some of these feelings in her portrait series about Sudanese families living in Australia. In her photos, you get to see an intimate look at some of these families that are generally hard to catch when viewed from the perspective of a non-Sudanese immigrant.
