Before I start writing anything else, I need every single reader who is reading this now to know that the video inside is hard to stomach. It shows video of a critical mass event this past Friday in Porto Alegre, Brazil going horribly wrong when a driver intentionally mows down over a dozen cyclists and drives off.
I have seen plenty of disgusting, terrible, and down-right wrong videos in my time on the net and none has angered me quite like this one. Regardless of what you think of critical mass and cyclists in general, there is NO situation that calls for an act like this to take place. You can hate cyclists, honk at them, throw up a middle finger, and yell all you want but nobody should EVER be mowing people down like this.
Critical Mass POA (the local Critical Mass website) has details from the tragedy which unfolded this Friday and it looks like the culprit will be turning himself in to police soon. Let’s hope this guy rots in jail.

Where are the videos of cyclists endangering my life as a car diver when they cut in front with no warning causing me to slam on the breaks, and then flipping me off as they cruise through a stop sign? Where are the videos of cyclists endangering my life as a pedestrian as they speed up on to the kerb and cut a corner to avoid a red light?
Both of these things happen on a daily basis in the city where I live.
Why aren’t cyclists forced to have registration on their road going vehicles so that they are forced to obey the law like everyone else?
@Scoon: Yes, it may be frustrating that not all the same rules apply to everyone. That however does not give any reason or excuse for somebody to INTENTIONALLY DRIVE THROUGH and I will repeat for emphasis DRIVE THROUGH CYCLISTS. Can’t believe you would somehow justify what happens in the video by writing how cyclists don’t follow the rules. Shame on you. Most cyclists follow the rules, if you encounter people that don’t, does that mean you’re going to hit them with your car? Goodness, take a good long look at yourself in the mirror, and you should question your humanity.

Firstly, the same rules DO apply to everyone. Cyclists just act as if they don’t.
Secondly, nowhere in my comments does it justify what happened. NOWHERE, I repeat for emphasis, NOWHERE does it say that. Good god man, you ride a bicycle, take a good look at yourself in the mirror and question your humanity.
