Elk invade Estes, Colorado

From June to October, the town of Estes, Colorado is literally invaded by elk. They are wild animals in an urban environment which can lead to very tricky and dangerous situations given the tourists who come to town during the summer.

I’m not trying to get myself killed or anything, but seriously, this sounds like something I need to do this summer!

One Response to Elk invade Estes, Colorado

  1. Chris Huddleston says:

As someone that lives in Denver, Colorado we’ve been up there many times to see the elk. It’s usually not nearly as exciting as in the video. When you go to watch the elk, it’s about 85% watching the elk and 15% watching people getting too close or being unaware of their surroundings or potential dangerous situation they are in.
You’ll see some elk in the summer but most of the action happens in the fall when they come out of the mountains by the hundreds.
I’ve never been anywhere that you can see wildlife so close and in and around people. The fights between the males are so unbelievably powerful and usually only last a few seconds.
    I would definitely recommend visiting.
