With the thought of impending bad weather coming up to NYC, I really, really, really want one of these for my apartment. Then I can bike any day I want regardless of how stupid it is outside.
I believe the bike trainer shown here is the Minoura 850D Mag Trainer (at least it looks like it). Are these better than the bike trainers that allow you to have your bike free-standing rather than attached to the actual unit? Somebody chime in on the comments please!

get some rollers. kind of bad for fixed gear (cause there’s no resistance on the units unless you invest in one with resistance bands) but they’ll let you actually balance the bike.
really good for working on pedal stroke, cadence, and balance (cause otherwise you’ll fall right off)
