The Solar Sinter Project: 3D printing using the power of the sun and lots of sand

Markus Kayser created this movable 3D printer that uses the power of the sun to melt and harden desert sand into 3D shapes. The project isn’t meant to be an actual practical 3D printer that runs on solar energy but rather a catalyst to make others think about how they can harvest the sun’s energy along with one of earth’s most abundant resources for other non-common uses.
