There’s a small community of people that really love old elevators on YouTube. They will go and seek out beautiful working lifts still in good working order from the early 1900′s and basically just film themselves riding it up and down. It’s sort of funny when you think about it but it’s also quite beautiful when you see how this old technology is still able to function so well after so many years.
This video above shows an old Otis elevtaor at the Rush Rhees Library at the University of Rochester in New York. The elevator was installed sometime in the 1930′s and has features similar to freight elevators except that it’s mostly automatic for regular passengers. Look at it, just look at it :)
