Charles le Brigand who shot that great video from the Red Hook Grain Terminal has posted a very fun Flickr photoset called Summer in the City which documents the culture of playing in open fire hydrants on streets in the Bronx and Brooklyn. Street play is still very much alive in this bustling town!

For the image above, Charles notes:

When I asked these kids where were their moms (to request permission to take a picture), the kid in the forefront with the ecuador jersey retorted: “we are independent kids and can take care of ourselves”, and then burst out laughing.
