If this proposed project ever gets approved by the MTA it will be crazier than The High Line Park and much more exciting to venture into I think.
In an effort to revitalize the LES, architect James Ramsey and Dan Barasch of PopTech and R. Boykin Curry IV are trying to get an abandoned train station underneath Delancey Street to become an underground park complete with shrubbery, sidewalks, and pedestrian lounges. The park is being dubbed The Low Line or The Delancey Underground depending on who you talk to and its idea is actually pretty fascinating.
If you want to check out some proposed renders of what it will look like if approved, you can check out a slideshow at NY Mag.
