Watch this video from the WWF’s Black Rhino Range Expansion Project where they show how endangered black rhinos are being transported from one wild location to another. The black rhino population has been endangered because of poaching of its horns and moving them to the Limpopo province in South Africa ensures that they will be kept safe and allowed to roam in a wild natural habitat as well.
The transportation method definitely looks unconventional. Black rhinos are first shot with a sedative and then strung upside down by their legs from a helicopter as they take a 10 minute journey out of their original locations.
If you’re interested you can check out some more images of the transportation in progress here.
