WIRED just wrote about the new Panasonic LDAHV4L27CG LED light bulb which has won a Good Design Award for 2011. The bulb boasts an astonishing 40-year lifespan with much lower power consumption rates than a traditional filament tungsten bulb.

Plus, it looks like it takes the same socket as a tungsten bulb which is nice — no new fixtures, AM I RIGHT?!
