I just came across this neat little invention called the Cuppow which turns an ordinary canning jar into a travel mug through the use of a $7.99 sipping part which you fasten onto the jar itself.

So you have to modify the jar lid yourself, seems like a lot of work and expense with no real gain. I don’t know of any coffee shop that will let you fill your own container so you would have to transfer the drink from the perfectly usable cup provided, this means no green usage for this. Also for 7.99 you can buy a reusable cup that is far more stylish than using a jam jar, maybe it’s a hipster thing?
huh? every coffee shop in my neighborhood allows the use of your own cup. In fact, most give a small discount for not wasting their paper cups. I agree, 7.99 seems a bit much, but I’d rather drink out of a glass jar that I already have around the house (or that can be bought for pennies at goodwill) than any plastic reusable cup.
For me, the only thing that comes to mind is how hot that glass is going to get. You will most likely need a Freaker ( http://www.freakerusa.com ) to protect your hands and keep with the rest of your hipster ensamble.
