This is one of the simplest and most satisfying tweaks I’ve come across lately for the Mac. A free app called Satellite Eyes for Mac uses your Mac’s location services to grab satellite imagery from Bing to use as your desktop wallpaper. If you’re constantly moving around, then so is your background and the switch is all done automatically. [via]
If you prefer a less complex look, you can set different zoom levels for neighborhood, region, street, and city and even have the maps display as watercolor (below, and courtesy of Stamen), terrain, or toner (black and white). Try it out!
