A great video about the need for a standardization in the transfer of information by using the example of the unassuming shipping container. I had no idea until I watched this video, but the use of the shipping container between shipper and ports caused a huge increase in global trade. It totally makes sense though because shippers and ports no longer needed to worry about the shape of items so long as they could fit inside a container that could be easily moved, transported, and picked up just about anywhere.
If you’re interested in more, the book Trillions: Thriving in the Emerging Information Ecology apparently talks about how to deal with digital information overload. Might have to pick this up!
