LA Weekly has written a lengthy article about the wonders, oddities, and celebrities of Koreatown, LA. The magazine is hailing Koreatown as one of America’s hippest neighborhoods, something that I actually agree with to a certain extent.
Instead of simply talking about the cool places to go, the article delves into how lately the neighborhood has been put on the map by a show on YouTube called K-Town (which, by the way, I absolutely love). It talks of rampant underage drinking, a culture of traditional Korean and American values, and the juxtaposition of traits that make Koreatown both a weird and fascinating place. More importantly though, LA Weekly recognizes that what makes Koreatown great isn’t actually the Korean people or the establishments — although they do play a large part of course.
