Due to the widespread availability of power steering in modern vehicles, the long-standing recommendation of holding the steering wheel at the position of 10 & 2 is no longer recommended by insurance companies like AAA.
Instead, they recommend the 8 & 4 positions as it is less fatiguing and less likely to cause your arms to hit your face in the event of an airbag deployment.

I prefer 3 and 9 myself. But, yes, 10 and 2 is not so good with airbags.
And don’t cross your arms while turning, either.

Hahaha, I never do 10-2. Most of the time it’s a one-handed 5 or 7. Lazy driving ftw! Lawlz.
How many times an airbag goes off? And how many times you need to correct your path (normal turns, obstacles…) in an urban area?
You have to favour the most usual case, not a slight chance, and the 8 & 4 positions aren’t safe to drive, not even in the highway. This is an example of an insurance company just trying to avoid claims but don’t giving a damn about actual safety. It’s not like they’re a experienced driver’s association, are they?
