Earlier this year, I posted some photos from NASA of the Z-1 spacesuit which was inspired in part by Buzz Lightyear’s outfit from Toy Story. In the videos here we get a better understanding of how this suit was developed and what it means for future astronauts in space who may be wearing this.

Great video but……….Has nobody at NASA ever heard of Open Sourcing.
Why are they spending money patenting things that only they will ever use?
Things that someone else somewhere might be able to use for the benefit of us all but will have to beg NASA, which we all help pay for, to be able to use.
Wake up NASA…..they are cutting your budget and for some bizzare reason you don’t want to reach out to thousands of free developers from every walk of life who will not only help develop your suit but everything you do.
Maybe one of you could read “Makers. The new industrial revolution.” ASAP or the web community and private finance will be charging you to use their runway on Mars.
Afraid of “OMG…CYBER ATTACKS.” don’t worry.
If you have millions of serious space fans, all fired up on helping you to develop your projects, can you imagine what their reaction to a cyber attempt to stop or even mildly harm NASA would be?
Anonymous would probably scrape what was left of them into a bucket for you to send anywhere you fancy.
