This is really neat. The U.S. National Archives on Flickr has a collection of photos showing the renovation of The White House during the ’50s. The reason for the major gutting and renovation stemmed from the fact that large portions of the house were essentially a “fire trap”. While I’ve seen many photos of the White House interior from over the years, I have never seen it gutted like this, exposed, and raw. Pretty awesome.
