A new report from NBC briefly details some general specifics required for the new generation limo for US Presidents. The Department of Homeland Security has initiated the process to re-outfit the Presidential limo sometimes known as “Cadillac One” or “The Beast” because of its tank-like build underneath a stealthy 2009 Cadillac body. As you can see from the photo above, the Presidential limo basically is a tank, with heavy armored doors as thick as an airplane door and a system in place that can seal the inside of the vehicle from chemical and bio attacks.

Back in 2009, I posted an infographic showing some of the tech inside this car, but for obvious security reasons some of that tech can’t be revealed or elaborated on.

A couple of things I did learn from this NBC article though is that the Secret Service drivers are trained to execute a J-turn at a moment’s notice to quickly get out of a situation. And should the President ever need blood, he’s got his own blood bank in the trunk (how long does blood last?).
