Da Da Da Studio is selling a variety of shoes made entirely out of different loaves of bread! They come in black, white, classic, and gold colors and are presumably crisp up until delivery! Get a pair for yourself for just over $32 USD. [via]

Just so you know, it is probably not recommended that you consume these shoes after wearing them (even if you only wear them around the house). Thanks Funko!

The last days of Gourmet magazine (in pictures)

November 2, 2009 @ 10:05 pm

Kevin Demaria, who has worked at Gourmet magazine for the last 8 years, published photos of the magazine’s last days to remember the food magazine and to somehow make sense of the poor state of the magazine industry — at least at Conde Nast (or so they say…). Simple yet beautiful photos.

Clever NYC Spaghetti packaging

October 31, 2009 @ 11:49 pm

Alex Creamer, a student at the University of Central Lancashire in the UK, created this unique product packaging for spaghetti using a 3D model of the Chrysler Building in New York City that he stuck to the inside of a white rectangular box. The result of placing spaghetti inside this box is that the spaghetti mimics the shape of the Chrysler Building when opened. Kinda a nice surprise, no?

The Dieline has more images of the packaging.

Wow, I believe this is the first time I’ve ever seen a cake fashioned to look like a New York City MTA Subway car (an F train, too!). It’s not perfect, but it is kind of neat I think, so kudos to Dahlia’s Cakes for putting this together.

Spalding basketball cake

October 28, 2009 @ 12:23 am

Funko just shared this wonderful post from Eat Cake Be Merry of a custom-made Spalding basketball cake that beats any sports-related cake I’ve ever seen.

The cake is made by Liz Shim for her husband’s 28th birthday and includes even the smallest details of a real basketball like the little dimples on the exterior of the ball. To top it off, this basketball cake even comes with a wood-grain floor. That’s awesome!

Head on over here to see the rest of the cake and how it was made.
