Orion Black Ocean illuminated world globe

November 4, 2009 @ 9:13 pm

When I was younger, I had a spinning globe on a stand that I used to place on my desk. I hardly ever used it, but I kept it there because I liked how it looked on my desk (plus, it lit up). I haven’t owned a globe since then but this Orion Black Ocean illuminated world globe is sorta making me want one again. At $85, it’s no cheap desk accessory (that’s the sale price, too!), but at least that sort of money will get you a globe that will be unlike most of your friend’s globes (if they even have any). And hey, the black oceans are a nice contrast to the usual blue oceans on traditional globes.

Oh, and flip the switch and you’ll see the continents and words on the globe light up in a very nice, high-contrast look.

BottleMate is perfect for bottle cap collectors

November 4, 2009 @ 12:34 am

An Australian company has developed a neat little tool called the BottleMate that easily pops the caps off of bottles while preserving their circular shape. Normally, if you have to open a bottle with a sealed cap, you end up bending it somehow with a bottle opener which really messes up the shape of the cap itself.

In any case, this is a pretty neat product I think and something that might make me start a personal collection of bottle caps just for fun. Thanks Dan for the heads up on this!
