Went to an Athlete concert last night at the Bowery Ballroom. It was my first time at the Bowery Ballroom and also my first time seeing Athlete live in concert. I’ve been a fan of their music for a while now and it was nice to see them play on stage. As far as I can remember, they hit all of my favorites including Wires, Black Swan Song, Superhuman Touch, Hurricane, and Half Light.
All in all, a very good show. I just wish their stage setup and lighting were a bit more sophisticated. Here are some photos from the show.

So for the past few days I’ve been doing quite a bit of research on a new digital SLR body. Since I already own Canon lenses — most of which have no resale value — the smartest thing for me to do was focus primarily on Canon camera bodies (just to put it out there: if I could get good money on the lenses I own now, I’d probably make a major switch to Nikon).
Anyway, my current digital SLR is way out of date and I decided recently that it’s about time I get some new gear in my hands. Camera technology and picture quality has changed dramatically over the last 5 years since I last purchased an SLR which means that the gap between high-end professional SLRs and pro-sumer SLRs are becoming narrower.
For example, below is a comparison chart between the Canon EOS 7D and the Canon EOS 5D Mark II (green boxes indicate superior specs).

While the 5D Mark II is the higher-end camera, it seems like the 7D is the camera that actually gets all the goodies I’d actually make use of. Sure, the 5D’s full-frame sensor is a huge deal, but at this point, I feel like I’m willing to compromise in exchange for a generally more sophisticated feature-set in the Canon 7D. Specifically, here are the things I’m sold on in terms of the Canon 7D being a “better” choice: 8fps shooting, dual Digic 4 processors, better auto-focus system, built-in Speedlite transmitter, on-camera flash, and 100% viewfinder coverage just to name a few — all of these features are missing from the higher-end 5D Mark II for some reason (but I have no doubts that they’ll make an appearance on the 5D Mark III).

I guess the question for me is whether or not I’m willing to pay an extra $1000 for a full-frame camera with less features. At that price, I’m leaning towards a no.

It doesn’t seem like I’m the only one who has had problems opening multiple files in Adobe Photoshop CS4 while running Snow Leopard.
In Photoshop CS3, I was able to drag multiple items into the Photoshop icon in my dock and have them all open up at once. I could do this with regular Finder items and items from within Bridge and other Adobe apps as well. But in Photoshop CS4, this functionality is sporadic at best. If I’m dragging 5 items, let’s say, sometimes Photoshop will only open 1 and other times it’ll open 3 or something. The number seems to be random.
I don’t really know if it’s a problem with Adobe or with Snow Leopard since I never ran CS4 under Leopard to see if that functionality worked there. But for now, it’s a pretty major inconvenience that I hope Apple or Adobe get fixed soon.

First of all, a big thank you goes out to Chris of Perennial Media who kindly purchased a pack of Polaroid 600 for me to play with after I had mentioned that I had received a Polaroid Sun 600 camera.
I had to wait a bit to receive the pack because apparently (and I didn’t know this) the price of a pack of Polaroid fluctuates like mad. One day it’ll be about $30 and the next it will literally jump to about $80. I’ve never seen a product go through so many price changes in one week. But thankfully, it’s finally here, and I’ll say that it’s a bit fun and challenging to try and find 10 things to shoot without feeling like you’re wasting the film. It’s been so long since I’ve shot any sort of film that this feeling is once again new to me.
I’ll post all 10 photos once I get them all shot.
