I’m not in Maine anymore, but I’m also not back in New York City yet. The family decided to make a stop in Hadley, Massachusetts and that’s where I am at the moment until tomorrow.
This vacation has been fun and tiring, but it’ll be good to be back in the city tomorrow. Also, I may not have a computer for the next week or so because of an unfortunate accident. So I’ll just be hanging out in real life in the meantime.

For the next week, I’ll be away on vacation in Maine which means no updates here on Doobybrain.com.
I encourage you all to follow @doobybrain on Twitter and to continue sending me items via email (I’ll be on vacation, but I’ll be able to check email consistently). In the meantime, I hope you don’t get sick of seeing this image above for an entire week. See ya when I get back all refreshed!

Also from Duke’s Lexington Antiques Center are these two beautiful Mason jars –one from Samco and the other from Atlas. They are both 1/2 gallon jars and they make wonderful desk accessories and coin jars (that’s what I’m using them for).

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about a Book It button being on eBay for just $1 but I didn’t bid on it mainly because it wasn’t the exact one that I remember seeing when I was younger.
By sheer coincidence (or maybe fate), I happened upon the exact button that I had in mind while I was at Duke’s Lexington Antiques Center in Virginia yesterday. It was buried under a whole mess of other buttons going for only $1 so I snatched it up and now it is in my posession. It’s in great condition (meaning, no rust) and the pin on the back is still intact and sharp enough to attach onto bags and clothing. But the most wonderful part is tilting the button from your view and watching as the rainbow in the background moves ever so slightly back and forth. Ahh, memories!

Hello all. I just got back from Tennessee so I’m depressurizing and recharging after the long commute. Lots to catch up on and read about, so do stay tuned.

I just came back from Boston and I noticed that they still have a Circuit City box store with the Circuit City logo hanging on the exterior. I wonder how many of these still exist in the US (with empty parking lots in tow, of course). You can see a larger version of the image above at You’re My Favourite.
