Kryptos: the sculpture and code nobody can figure out

This is one of the most fascinating pieces I’ve read at WIRED. It’s about a sculptural installation at CIA headquarters that’s become one of the hardest known cryptic codes to decipher and it’s driving some people mad. The sculpture, called Kryptos, was created by artist James Sanborn and many believe him to be the only person in the world with any clue to the answer of the entire code.

Kryptos is split into 4 difference sections (K1, K2, K3, and K4). Three of those 4 sections have been decoded but the last section, K4, seems to have the entire code-cracking community scratching their heads. The search for the answer has gotten so insane that some people have scrutinized every single word uttered by Sanborn in hopes that maybe he might slip the answer or that his words have some kind of connection to the answer.

The WIRED article goes quite in depth into how the code was cracked and how the first 3 sections are translated. If you’ve got some time, you might want to read about it. Does anybody know if you can go and see this sculpture? Or is it only reserved for people on the CIA campus?

Here, let me Google that for you

I have a lot of friends that ask me questions about really simple things. Most of the time it has something to do with how to do something on a computer. It’s not that I don’t like helping them, but when the answer is as easy as doing a simple Google search, I find it hard not to just point them in that direction instead.

LetMeGoogleThatForYou.com is a site that takes the whole process and visually shows your friends how it’s done. Just type in a question, hit one of the buttons, and the LetMeGoogleThatForYou.com creates a linkable animation for you to pass on to your buddies (for example: How do I install Adium?).

The best part is that the animation eventually goes to the Google search results page, so you really don’t have to do much else.

Kinda funny, if you ask me. From now on, I’m using this website for truly stupid questions. Haha.

Ask Sarah Palin a question and get an unintelligent response

It’s no secret now that Sarah Palin is either very terrible at interviews or just doesn’t know crap about anything related to running the country. Her responses so far have been complete and utter failures and it should scare all of you (regardless of your party affiliations) knowing that this woman could potentially end up in the 2nd most powerful seat in one of the most powerful countries in the world.

At Interview Sarah Palin, you can go through various important questions directed towards her and read a computer-generated answer (based on her given answers so far) that’s embarassingly similar to her real-life responses. Haha, she really is starting to get a reputation like Miss South Carolina Teen USA.
