This is video archive gold right here! BB has come across a striking video of Helen Keller and her teacher Anne Sullivan as Sullivan explains how Helen Keller learned to speak despite being deaf and blind.
This newsreel was taken in the 1930’s.

Clarence has come across this clip of a 13-year-old Seth Rogen doing stand-up comedy at the Comedy Gym in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Wow, I wonder what Seth would say if he saw this.

I love this video that The Retroist posted of Coney Island in 1952. It was a very different place back then with much more energy, activity, and vacationers. Nowadays, Coney Island seems like a local beach slum (even more so now that Astroland is pretty much gone).

Photo: The Royal Mint in Melbourne
The National Library of Australia has an online archive of searchable imagery from many libraries and collections throughout Australia. The list of contributors at Picture Australia is long which makes the site an invaluable resource for gathering images of Australia from its earliest days until today!
The image aboveis of the Royal Melbourne Mint which still sits on La Trobe Street and William Street in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. I used to pass by this building all the time going to work and it’s so neat that I can now see a picture of the historic place without any buildings, roads, cars, or people around. Amazing!

Just came across this now. If you’re bored and in need of some inspiring words, Hulu is hosting all modern Presidential inaugural speeches for free viewing.

Around 1906-2008 by guil3433 on Flickr
I came across this interesting Flickr photo pool yesterday that basically shows a bunch of places with past (old) images juxtaposed with present (newer) images of the same location. The Then and Now Flickr pool seems to be going relatively strong as it currently has over 1000 images in its group. Going through some of the photos, it’s interesting to see how some places more or less stay exactly the same over time while others are more susceptible to the changes in the environment that they are in.
At a quick glance, it seems like most of the photos are from countries other than the US, which might make exploring this group a bit more interesting than if it were only US-based because other countries included in this set are much older than the US places.
