This is the cutest thing ever! This little robot, called Yellow Drum Machine, is a robot that automatically scans its surroundings for a solid surface to make a beat on. When it finds a solid object, it stops and composes a beat and then loops it back and plays along with it. Pretty awesome. [via]
My eyes just about popped out of their sockets when I saw this video on NOTCOT. The Rolls Royce 200CX apparently has an auto-adjusting purse holder in the back seat for those women (and maybe men) who have no idea that they can just put their purse on their lap during a car ride. WOW. Luxurious and ridiculous!
So my dad and I are looking at new cars and one of the ones we’re both pretty fixated on is the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. It’s a rather ordinary looking car but underneath it’s a bit more than extraordinary. It offers quite substantial mileage per gallon over the other cars in its class and it has a wonderfully design dashboard that really extends the center console unit to a great degree. And according to Ford, if you’re driving below 47mph, the car is almost 100% electric. So in most city-driving situations, you won’t be using any gas at all!
I really wouldn’t mind driving this car. It’s spacious, not too ugly, decently priced, and it has an awesome webpage. Sadly, I doubt we’ll get this car because it’s only available in automatic. :(
Ok, so Microsoft Research has created a piece of computer software that will automatically create a song for you based on your voice. The software, called Songsmith, is essentially every single terrible aspect of the music industry rolled into one application. You want to create a happy song or a jazzy tune? Just adjust the sliders and Songsmith with fill in the musical parts for you. All you have to do is sing.
In my opinion, this is a terrible application. But even more shocking than the app is the promo video above for Songsmith which effectively trashes any inkling of ‘cool’ that this software could have even had. Good job there.
