Conde Nast Traveler’s 2009 Readers Choice Awards just awarded the 21c Museum Hotel in Louisville, KY the #1 hotel in the United States (and #6 worldwide). Pentagram is obviously excited about the announcement because they helped design the identity, graphics, and signage for the hotel which no doubt goes very well with the contemporary look of the hotel.
I’ve never heard of the 21c Museum Hotel until just now but it certainly sounds like a place I’d love to stay in the future. With only 90 rooms available and an incredibly posh interior with luxurious amenities, it already sounds like I’ll have to save up quite a bit just to stay for one night.
Never heard of Trends Updates, but apparently they’ve heard of me and they think Doobybrain.com is worthy of the award for “top 18 weird and wonderful blogs” on the web. This site is up there with several other big names in blogging and I’m honored to say the least. I guess this would be considered Doobybrain’s first official web award.
Not only did this cover win the top honor, it also won “Best Coverline” and “Best News Cover”.
Maybe my head’s just not in the whole magazine business, but I don’t think this cover is particularly interesting. Sure, it’s kinda funny, but only for about 10 seconds before the humor runs out. After that, it’s just a photo of Spitzer standing there doing absolutely nothing.
In fact, with all the magazines out these days, I feel like this ASME list is totally unrepresentative of the creative minds that work in this print industry. I mean, just look at the list of overall winners and finalists. C’mon, seriously???
Yelena just sent me this video of one of my favorite actresses, Kristen Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) singing “Fame” from the musical of the same name. Incredibly cheesy, but I like it because it’s based loosely on my high school…and because it’s Kristen Bell.
