Spalding basketball cake

October 28, 2009 @ 12:23 am

Funko just shared this wonderful post from Eat Cake Be Merry of a custom-made Spalding basketball cake that beats any sports-related cake I’ve ever seen.

The cake is made by Liz Shim for her husband’s 28th birthday and includes even the smallest details of a real basketball like the little dimples on the exterior of the ball. To top it off, this basketball cake even comes with a wood-grain floor. That’s awesome!

Head on over here to see the rest of the cake and how it was made.

Forward-flip basketball shot

Check out this amazing video of a forward-flip basketball shot made by Aaron Shutway of Brecksville-Broadview Heights Middle School. The video was so impressive that it was recently featured on MSNBC.

Streeter gets Amir back for his Yankee proposal prank

March 4, 2009 @ 10:34 am

Amir and Streeter both work at CollegeHumor and they’ve been involved in a very long series of prank wars that escalated to its peak about a year and a half ago when Amir made it seem like Streeter proposed to his girlfriend at a Yankees baseball game. Since then, there have been no signs of retaliation (or a prank-back) from Streeter and many assumed that Amir had won with the ultimate prank.

Well, not so. Streeter wrote on his blog yesterday that he had finally gotten Amir back for the Yankee stadium prank and the video was just posted on CollegeHumor.

Streeter rigged a Maryland basketball game so that Amir would be chosen as the person to take a blind shot at the basket for half a million dollars. The reaction from Amir is priceless when he thinks he actually made the shot and when it is revealed to him that Streeter was behind the whole thing.

If somehow you missed Amir’s Yankee stadium prank, it’s embedded below. I can’t wait to see what Amir has in store for Streeter.

Lincoln’s distant relative is a New Jersey Nets dancer

New Jersey Nets dancer, Bonnie Lincoln, doesn’t just share a similar last name to a former US President — she’s actually a relative of Lincoln! The 23-year-old dancer apparently carries a piece of wood from Lincoln’s original log cabin around with her to prove to skeptics that she really is part of his family lineage.

Want to see what that piece of wood looks like? Watch the video below because she pulls it out while being interviewed on the basketball court.

Over-the-head basket attempt wins basketball game

December 3, 2008 @ 5:48 pm

Here’s amazing home video of a blind, over-the-head shot from a SUNY Geneseo basketball player that stole the game from SUNY Oswego 85-84.

Look at that. In any other circumstance, that would have just gone nowhere. But everything was just right and the basketball went into the hoop! I mean, he even fell onto the floor in what he probably thought was a lame attempt at a game-winning point that was lost.
