Taken in 2000 by John McColgan and spread online via email chain (every time there is a major forest fire, it seems), this amazing once-in-a-lifetime photograph shows two elk fleeing a fire at Bitterroot National Forest in Montana. The photograph has been claimed by some to be a fake, but Snopes did some research and found it to be completely unaltered. The only thing untrue about this photograph is that sometimes people include it in random forest fire news stories that have nothing to do with the Bitterroot National Forest fire back in 2000.

PlayStation controller soap mold

Someone on Etsy is selling homemade soap with olive oil shaped in the likeness of a PlayStation game controller. Each soap costs $4.25 and is available in red, yellow, blue, purple, peach, green, pink and turquoise. [via]

Unfortunately, the soaps aren’t completely 3D on all sides. The bottom of the soap is flat, but that is probably a good thing so that it doesn’t wobble around on a counter top or shelf. Anyway, this is a good gift for a gamer if the gamer you have in mind has a hard time getting up to take a shower.
