Kangaroos look absolutely ridiculous when they box. It’s actually funny. [via]

Giant smalleye stingray filmed for the first time

Off the coast of Mozambique, a film crew filming for the BBC captured one of the rarest species of stingray on earth. The smalleye stingray is the largest of their kind and has never before been captured on video. [via]

How a hurricane is born (you won’t believe the answer)

August 16, 2009 @ 12:17 am

Wait a second. So according to this BBC clip, many of the hurricanes that affect America’s East Coast each year could potentially have been caused by a single girl walking across the Saharan Desert?! I’m a bit disappointed that the explanation isn’t even more ridiculous than this.

BBC Hunting Backpack

I have so many mixed feelings about this bag. On one hand I admire how the BBC Hunting Backpack is a rather bold move in terms of implementing a very nontraditional print/pattern onto a backpack. It’s certainly one that is made to garner reactions out of people — good and bad — and also serve as an iconic item for the brand (I mean seriously, who else is gonna try and copy this?).

On the other hand however, I can’t help but think of just how insane this market is that this product can even exist. It’s ugly for the sake of being ugly and it’s priced at such a ridiculous price-point — $285 USD — that I leave the product page wondering why nobody else is making a big fuss over how much money BBC might be making on this single product alone (how much do you think it costs to produce this bag, all manufacturing processes considered?). This is a pretty standard bag at best (Oh wow, leather straps!!! Pssht, whatevs) and I have a hard time seeing the appeal this has to a particular group of consumers.

Incredible driving once again from Ken Block who you might remember from those gymkhana practice videos.

BBC Comedy: “Your name, sir?”

May 26, 2009 @ 8:28 am

This is a pretty hilarious comedy sketch from the TV show “A Bit of Fry and Laurie” (featuring Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie) in which Laurie has to give his name and address to an officer at the police station. [via]
