Haha, this is such a great prank to pull on somebody. There’s nothing quite like waking up and being totally surprised at seeing a bearded man in bed next to you. Scary indeed! [via]

Afrikan Boy showed off the first photo of M.I.A.’s newborn baby who was born on Wednesday, February 11, 2009.
As many of you know, M.I.A. recently performed on her scheduled due date while pregnant at the Grammy Awards. Her next scheduled performance is supposed to be on February 22, 2009 at the Oscars (81st Academy Awards) and word is that the organizers are so keen on having her perform “O Saya” (from Slumdog Millionaire) that they are even willing to beam her in from her bed via satellite or have her perform as a hologram. Seriously.

If you stand at the foot of the Doze bed, you would probably think that the bed was floating in mid-air. But upon closer inspection, you’ll realize that the Doze is being held up completely at the opposite base by its solid wood structure. It doesn’t say it anywhere on the website, but I’m sure there must be a way of securing the bed into the floor. I don’t see how else the bed can stay “afloat” without such a mechanism.
Furniture Fashion says the bed is available in twin, full, queen, and king sizes in a variety of woods including Beech, Oak, Maple, American Cherry, or American Walnut. No idea how much it costs, but if you’ve got dough to blow, you can bet a good chunk of it will be lost purchasing this sleeper.

This stop-motion video piece is directed by Oren Lavie and Yuval & Merav Nathan and features photography by Eyal Landesman. It’s a fantastic song with a great video concept that uses the bed and its surroundings to create an entirely different room and place for the woman. If only my dreams were as vivid and entertaining as this music video…
If you’re wondering what song this is, it’s “Happy Song” (or “Her Morning Elegance”) by Oren Lavie.
Thanks Sara for sharing this!

Design Public has this neat but expensive pod pet bed for sale. It’s an elevated cave-like home ideal for a cat to sleep or rest in.
The Pod Pet Bed comes in 4 color variations (shown above) and each cost $115. If your cat doesn’t like enclosed spaces, you can take off the top cover and let it simply be an elevated bed (you can buy The Podium Pet Bed for the same price, but you’d be a fool to do that).
The inside of the pod is Sherpa fleece-lined and easily taken out for cleaning. Nice, but definitely not $115-nice.
