This magnificent photo of a bull pinning a man (Bernie Madoff) to the wall is courtesy of The Wall Street Journal. The sculpture was created by Chen Wenling to illustrate the global financial crisis. It is now on display in Beijing.

This is what China looks like today after a sudden blaze engulfed portions of a hotel near the CCTV tower in Beijing.
It hasn’t yet been ruled out, but some believe the fire may have started from fireworks used near the site during the final day of Chinese New Year celebrations.

Arch Daily has posted first-person video of the fire that has engulfed Beijing’s Television Cultural Centre (TVCC), the building adjacent to the headquarters of China Central Television (CCTV), a building designed by Rem Koolhaas of The Office for Metropolitan Architecture.
There are many incorrect reports that the CCTV building is on fire. It is not, although it is in danger of being so because of its proximity to TVCC, which in fact, is on fire.
The TVCC building was supposed to open in mid-May, but current reports indicate that the building is now more or less unusable.

This is without a doubt the Doobybrain.com picture of the day. It’s only technically been a little over an hour into the day so far, but I’m pretty sure I won’t find a weirder or more humorous picture at least until tomorrow. This one is courtesy of The Wall Street Journal and the caption reads: Farmer Wu Yulu rode in a rickshaw pulled by his self-made robot near his home on the outskirts of Beijing Thursday. Mr. Wu, who started building robots in 1986, made his latest invention out of materials found in trash piles.

Dan Chung, a staff photographer for The Guardian, shot these beautiful scenes of Beijing at night using only a Canon 5D Mark II and adapted Nikon and Zeiss lenses. I’m still amazed at the quality of video that comes from this camera. Just goes to show that with the right kind of lenses, this camera can do incredible things!

I’ve been posting a bunch of terrible interviews lately, so it’s good to come across one that’s very much the opposite. Shawn Johnson, the 2008 Beijing Olympic gold medalist in women’s gymnastics can be seen here being interviewed by David Letterman. She’s incredibly well spoken for her age (she’s 15) and definitely deserving of the media spotlight.
