Euna Lee and Laura Ling pardoned and leaving North Korea

As mentioned earlier today, Bill Clinton made a secret visit to North Korea to meet with Kim Jong Il and to secure the freedom of imprisoned US journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling. And from that meeting good news has come, as The New York Times is reporting that both US journalists have been freed and pardoned of their crimes by Kim Jong Il and are safely on their way back to the US.

Man, Bill Clinton deserves some major respect for this noble deed.

Bill Clinton meets Kim Jong Il to negotiate release of US journalists

Big news coming out of North Korea today as pictures surfaced of former US President Bill Clinton in a photo-op with North Korean ruler Kim Jong Il (August 4, 2009).

The purpose of Clinton’s surprise visit to North Korea was to negotiate the release of two US journalists, Euna Lee and Laura Ling, who were sentenced earlier this year to 12 years of hard labor for illegal entry and committing hostilities toward North Korea. Clinton is the first US representative to meet with Kim Jong Il since 2000 when Madeleine K. Albright visited Pyongyang.

Girl faints as Bill Clinton gives a speech

Bill Clinton is just an awesome man. He’s so awesome that a girl standing behind him fainted and collapsed as he was giving a speech to a room full of people.

His response: “It’s hot up here.”

Haha, that’s fantastic! Makes me want to read My Life even more now!

By the way, this is sorta old news, but Bill Clinton was one of the cover men for GQ’s December 2007 men of the year issue. I bought it (and the photo of the cover is inside this post).
