Supermandolini sells this 2-part pin made from gold matte-finish acrylic that looks like a bird took a crap on your jacket. It is hand-made and costs just over $25 USD. [via]
I think it’s a wonderful modern alternative to the much overlooked lapel pin.
So on Sunday I was walking with Florence down in Chinatown trying to watch the Chinese New Year festivities (we couldn’t by the way) and we came across this woman on Mulberry Street selling these ceramic bird noise makers. You fill them up with a bit of water and you blow into them and they make a sound that is almost indistinguishable from a real bird!
It truly is a remarkably simple toy and one that I was more than happy to pay $2 for. If you want to get one, you can head on down to Mulberry Street between Canal and Bayard Streets and look for the woman selling these outside of a store from a small box. She should be demonstrating them so if you can’t see her, maybe you’ll hear the birds nearby. Seriously, pick one up. We’ll make bird melodies together.
UPDATE: Sorry about the video being private at first. It’s public now so all of you can watch it freely.
Haha, man, Disney movies used to be so much more entertaining. I mean, just look at the outrageous song and animation attached to the clip above! Isn’t it great? Doesn’t it make you feel like getting up and dancing and singing?
Gondaba posted this funny photo of somebody’s desperate plea for help regarding a singing mockingbird that stretches its vocal chords at 2AM every night. I wonder if anybody actually shot that mockingbird…
